June 2, 2007 - Orienteering at Point au Roche State Park in conjunction with the Friends of Point au Roche Spring Field Day.  Start times from 10 am until noon.

Sat., Dec. 29, 2007 ski-O score-O at NH with the new computer updated map that will be excellent, no doubt.  Course setters are Ellie and Tooki George.  And the weather will be relatively warm, and the snow will be good.

Directions

Directions to Brewster Peninsula Trails:  Take Route 86 from Lake Placid toward Saranac Lake.  There is a small DEC sign marking the right turn in the midst of the Lake Placid Howard Johnson's and Comfort Inn buildings.  The trail head is 0.5 miles from that turn-off.

Directions to Dewey Mountain:  Take Route 3 west from Saranac Lake toward Tupper Lake.  Dewey Mountain is about a quarter mile west of Saranac Lake between Algonquin Apartments and the Tenth Mountain Division.  Call 518-891-7450 for information about the area and latest weather conditions.  Dewey Mountain Website: www.saranaclake.com/dewey/index.shtml

Directions to Macomb State Park:  

From the North - Take the Northway (Interstate 87) exit 36.  So south on Route 22 about 1 mile.  Take a left on Salmon River Road and go to the end.  Make a left on 22B.  In about a quarter mile, make a right on Norrisville Road and go about 3 miles.  The State Park is on the left.

From the South - Take Northway (Interstate 87) exit 35.  Go left on on Bear Swamp Road.  Make a right at the junction with 22.  Almost immediately take a left on 22B.  In about 5 miles at Schuyler Falls, make a left on Norrisville Road.  The Park is on the left in about 3 miles.

 

Direction to North Hudson Trail System:  Take Exit 29 off the Northway (Interstate 87).  Go east on Route 2B toward North Hudson for 1/2 mile.  Take a right on Route 9 South for 1/2 mile.  Turn right (on Frontier Town Road)  at the sign for the Town of North Hudson Trail System.  Go 1/2 mile to the kiosk on the right.

 

Directions to Point au Roche State Park:  Take the Northway (Interstate 87) exit 40 - Beekmantown.  Turn to the east (right from the south or left from the north) and go 0.5 mile to Route 9.  Turn right on Route 9 and go 0.5 mile south; turn left on Point au Roche  Road.  It is 1.5 miles to the Park entrance, but continue straight ahead for another 0.7 mile to Camp Red Cloud Road, a right hand turn, which will take you 0.4 mile to the Point au Roche Nature Center and the orienteering start.
