CHANGE
Most of us are afraid to change,
Or even admit that we ought to.
We blame the demons in our past
That we should not give a thought to.
We fear the challenge, or the danger,
Or reproach from friends or strangers,
Or the task of mending fences,
Or failure and its consequences.
No one else can make you change;
That is not how change begins.
Change will seldom happen to you;
Change comes from within.
But change is only possible
When we see we’re responsible
And we exercise free will,
Only then and not until.
Change is transformation,
Testing what we’re made of.
The old way dies, is cast aside,
And that’s what we’re afraid of.
Change can signify rebirth,
Like flowers in full bloom.
Change requires patience;
Don’t expect too much too soon.
Change is all around us;
Everything must change.
Nothing lasts forever;
The rocks do not remain.
We change because we have to;
The past is not enduring.
We can change the course of change
But cannot stop it from occurring.
