A REFUGE FOR POETS WHO WRITE IN THE LYRIC TRADITION,
WITH RHYME AND METER, WITH OR WITHOUT MUSIC

WE MUST COMMIT TO SOMETHING
In youth we dream of many things;
Commitments they are few.
Some of us will take the wing
And try for something new.
Who knows what the road may bring?
Seek and ye shall find.
But some will never dare to leave
The life they’ve known behind.
When we choose from all our dreams
The one that’s worth pursuing,
We catch it only if we keep
Our minds on what we’re doing.
If we hesitate, we’re late.
The sands of time are shifting.
We must commit to something
Or we never cease our drifting.
So if you’ll walk along with me,
I’ll walk along with you.
If we share a common dream
We’ll make that dream come true.
If it is not meant to be,
We’ll know it before long.
The pleasure lies in the pursuit,
So how can we go wrong?
