FREE LOVE

There is love that comes on suddenly,
At once, or overnight.
There is love that you see coming
Like the dawning of the light.
There is love that comes with patience,
Needing only time to grow.
There is love that gains upon you;
Turn around and you will know.

Love is unconditional.
Love makes no demands.
Love will stand beside you
And take you by the hand.
Love accepts you as you are
And everything about you.
Love is always with you,
Even when it is without you.

Love can be romantic
As a rainbow in the mist.
Love can be platonic,
Not even to be kissed.
Love may last a lifetime,
Gaining strength with passing time.
Love may be as fleeting
As the dew upon the vine.

Love is a free bird,
Not to be tied down.
Love cannot be shackled.
Love cannot be bound.
The surest way to keep your love
Is to leave it free to go,
For without the breath of freedom,
True love cannot grow.
