genealogical websites stating that his children were born in Ohio are
probably incorrect.  As James Sharrock did not marry Jane Everard until
1 January 1783, any birth dates of children before this time are probably
incorrect.  Also, it was the custom in those days, when writing a will, to
list the children in order of birth, by gender; James Sharrock’s will
lists the children as follows: “Timothy; Benjamin; Everard; George; John;
Phoebe; and Mary.”  Thus “filtering out the noise,” we are able to winnow
down the purported birth listings to ones that are plausible:

Phebe SHARROCK		Born:  c. 1789, Peekskill, Westchester, New York
			Married:  Cornight McCOY, c. 1805, Guernsey, Ohio
			Buried:  Miller Cemetery, Salesville
				Guernsey County, Ohio

Everard SHARROCK	Born:  c. 1790, Westchester, New York

NOTE:  In the 1790 census for Cortlandt, Westchester, New York, “James
Shark” is listed with three boys under 16, and two females.

NOTES:  In the 1800 census for Salem, Westchester, New York, “James
Shorrock” is listed with his wife, one girl under 16, and four boys, two
under 10, and two under 16.  One boy and one girl are unaccounted for.  The
family was not found in the 1810 census for Westchester County, New York.
The 1810 census for Ohio (except Washington County) has been lost.  In the
1820 census for Wills, Guernsey, Ohio, “James Shorrack” is listed with his
wife, one girl under 10, and one boy under 16, possibly grandchildren.
