ANCESTRY OF THOMAS JEFFERSON HETER





Jacob Heter and Lucetta Gambee had six children.  Passed on through the
generations is a wooden picture frame containing tin type photographs of all
eight family members, circa 1860 or 1862, long before the family left Ohio.
Four of these images have survived nearly intact, and are reproduced HERE
and HERE  All eight dates and places of birth are handwritten on the back of
the picture frame.  Celia Adaline Heater, the fourth child, was born in
Hillsdale County, Michigan.  The others were born in Seneca County, Ohio.

   Children of Jacob Heater and Lucetta Gambee:

   Charles W. Heater:  Born 25 April 1841, Flatrock, Seneca, Ohio; Married
   Phoebe Jane Kern, Sandusky County, Ohio, 7 April 1868; Died 17 March 1923,
   Sterling, Rice, Kansas.

   Sarah Ann Heater:  Born 7 March 1843, Flatrock, Seneca, Ohio; Married
   George Reahm, Seneca County, Ohio, 21 August 1862; Died 9 January 1893.

   Lavina Heater:  Born 22 February 1845, Flatrock, Seneca, Ohio; Married
   De Forest W. Cleghorn, Sandusky County, Ohio, 20 February 1878; Died 1926.

   Celia Adaline Heater:  Born 25 May 1850, Allen, Hillsdale, Michigan;
   Married Charles G. Hunt, Sandusky County, Ohio, 24 August 1870.

   Franklin Nelson Heater:  Born 7 September 1853, Flatrock, Seneca, Ohio;
   Married Anna C. Rogers; Died 3 March 1937, Sterling, Rice, Kansas.

   Thomas Jefferson Heater:  Born 1 May 1857, Flatrock, Seneca, Ohio;
   Married Elizabeth J. Dill, Sterling, Rice, Kansas, 1 May 1883; Died
   6 August 1913, Sterling, Rice, Kansas.


Jacob Heater and Lucetta Gambee were married on 17 September 1840 in Huron
County, Ohio.  In 1850 they were living in Allen Township, Hillsdale County,
Michigan, where their fourth child, Celia A. Heater, was born.  Jacob is listed
as a farmer.  In 1860 they were living in Thompson Township, Seneca County,
Ohio, with all six of their children.  Jacob is listed as a farmer.  In 1870
they were living in York Township, Sandusky County, Ohio, with their four
youngest children (the two oldest children, Charles W. and Sarah Ann, were
already married).  Jacob, only 49 years old, is listed as a retired farmer.

   Jacob Heter (49) and Lucetta Heter (29).  Children: Lavina (24), Celia
   (18), Franklin (16), Thomas (13).
