ANCESTRY OF DELILAH ALLRED

Catherine Allred (Born c. 1765). Married Rene Julian (Born 29 March 1756,
Winchester, Frederick, Virginia, Died 1840, Knox County, Tennessee). Rene
Julian was executor of John Allred’s estate, December 1792 (see above). He
is not found in the 1790 census (the records for Virginia are lost). The
1800, 1810 and 1820 census records for eastern Tennessee are lost. But the
only census losses for 1830 were some counties in Massachusetts, Maryland,
and Mississippi, and Renny (Rene) Julian is not found anywhere. In the
1830 census, John Julian (40-49) and Nancy Julien (40-49) are listed in Knox
County, Tennessee, but Renny (Rene) is not. In the 1840 census, Stephen
Julian (60-69), John Julian (50-59), Nancy Julian (50-59), Sally Julian
(30-39), James N. Julien (30-39), and William Julian (20-29) are listed in
Knox County, Tennessee, but Renny (Rene) is not. There is a marriage record
for John Julan to Sarah Aldridge on 4 March 1797 in Knox County, Tennessee
(the surety was a man named Allred). There are marriage records of Nancy
Julian to Michael Ciser on 7 January 1806, Sally Julian to Frances Keiser on
21 April 1807, and Rebeccah Julian to Peter Keiser on 10 July 1807, all in
Knox County, Tennessee. There are listings on the Mormon website for Stephen
Allred Julian of Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee. But I can find no record of
Renny (Rene) Julian anywhere in Tennessee, and I cannot verify Catherine’s
date of birth. Note: “P. Allred” and “W. Allred Esq.” are buried at Grays
Chapel Methodist Church, Randolph County, North Carolina. Her gravestone
inscription reads “Sept. 15, 1772 – Feb. 20, 1856” and his reads “Aug. 8,
1765 – Jan. 24, 1849” (these are modern inscriptions on a granite stone; the
original marble stones stand alongside it). The Allred family identifies
them as Patience Julian and William Allred. The birth dates are taken from
Bible records. (http://www.allredfamily.org/submitted_by1.htm) (The birth
date for their first child, 27 November 1781, is clearly erroneous). The
Allred family states that “Patience and William were cousins – both Allred
descendants,” meaning that Patience was the daughter of Rene Julian and
Catherine Allred. This would require an earlier birth date for Catherine.

Susannah Allred (Born c. 1767). Married Hiram (Hyram) Guren (Geren, Gerren,
Geron, Guerin, Geran, Gerran). Susannah and Hyram moved to Kentucky
Territory (now Knox County, Tennessee). Hyram and Susannah died intestate
(without a will). Hiram’s estate was settled by Susannah Geran and Joseph
Geran, administrators, on 28 April 1798. Susannah’s estate was inventoried
in January 1806, administered by Joseph Geran or Gerran and Thomas Hall, sold
at auction, and finally settled on 3 April 1811. The Allred family states
that Joseph was the son of Hyram and Susannah, although the Allred family
transcriptions of the court documents do not state this, and the court
documents are reproduced with such poor resolution as to be nearly illegible.
Census records for 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1820 for eastern Tennessee are lost,
so Susannah’s age cannot be verified. Joseph Gerren first appears in the
census records in 1830, at Knox County, Tennessee, with his wife, both aged
50-59, two sons aged 20-29, one daughter aged 15-19, and two daughters aged
10-14. The age of Joseph (born c. 1775) is consistent with Susannah’s birth
date being c. 1767, and Joseph being her brother-in-law. The earliest
marriage record for Geren (by any spelling) in Knox County, Tennessee is for
Hiram Geren to Caley Sumpter on 20 February 1809.

Barbara Allred (Born c. 1769). Married William York. In the 1790 census for
Randolph County, North Carolina, William York is living with a wife, one son,
and two other women. In the 1800 census for Randolph County, William York
(aged 26-44) is living with a wife (aged 26-44), three sons (one aged 16-25,
two under 10) and three daughters (one aged 10-15, two under 10). William
